なぜ勝敗にこだわってはいけないか?

Last Updated on 16 June 2020 by Group headquarters office

A karate tournament was held.

A karate tournament was held, with the children divided into groups for each grade and refereed by the children themselves, making for a good tournament full of independence.

No effort is spared to win.We do not care about winning or losing. (Dojo precepts))

This is a martial arts tournament, so civility is more important than the result of winning or losing.
Any act that is not polite will result in an immediate point deduction and, in some cases, will upset the winner.

It is not the result but the attitude after the result that counts.Know that it is worth it. (Dojo Motto)

The referee will judge not only the start and end of a match with a bow, but also the posture during and after the match.
The referee is a three-man team, but the main referee and assistant referee are the children themselves. They use everything they have learned so far to judge.
In some cases, strange decisions may be made.
However, none of the children complained or showed any dissatisfaction with the referee.

なぜ勝敗にこだわってはいけないか?

Mentality will always affect physicality.
People get nervous when they are preoccupied with results such as winning or losing, saying things like 'I'm going to win' or 'I can't lose'.
Tension is always a 'force'.
Strength is not only forbidden in sports, but also in all other situations, including in the arts, such as calligraphy and painting.

When you strain, joints stiffen and movement is restricted.

Because force is a wave, the force stops where it has hardened. Therefore, the whole body's strength is not used and only the strength of a part of the body is used, and performance does not improve.

Tension and force are a set of habits, and if repeated, it becomes impossible to do anything without force.
If this habit is present, the force is habitually exerted when carrying heavy objects, so that the force is not distributed throughout the body and the weight is concentrated on the shoulders, hips and knees, causing pain.

Joints therefore need to be kept loose at all times to perform well and are more prone to injury.

Fine with multi-jointed movements without effort.

There is now one reason why you should not exert yourself.
This is because stiffening of the joints reduces the number of joints participating in the movement.
Joints basically have a rotational (hinged) movement.
Therefore, one joint cannot draw a straight line. You cannot draw a straight line with your wrist or elbow alone.

In martial arts, it is said that it is best to practise from the practice of pushing the opponent straight, and in calligraphy, from writing straight lines.
A straight line is a miraculous event that is achieved by a number of rotating joints working in tandem and in splendid coordination.
Simply put, a straight line cannot be drawn unless the whole body is co-ordinated. Straight line movements are not done with the smallest of hands, but are a practice of interlocking the whole body.
The multi-jointed movement due to this lack of effort enables fine movement, which is essential in all aspects of exercise, arts and crafts.
Therefore, an important condition for blossoming talent is to have a quiet and relaxed body (natural body), without being preoccupied with anything, including results.
